Offer Description

Tasks tend to have a broad range and can include:

  • Planning science-to-public events with attention to time and financial constraints imposed by the sponsors.
  • Researching potential speakers (scientists, activists, journalists, politicians) and vendors (catering, musicians etc.) and choose the best combination of quality and cost.
  • Booking venues and scheduling speakers.
  • Negotiating with vendors to achieve the most favorable terms.
  • Creating and updating information and promotional materials.
  • Creating graphics and visuals for our social media presence (i.e. taking photos at events, writing templates for posts, cropping images for Twitter or Facebook, creating graphics with event announcements).
  • Creating registration forms for events (with Google Forms).
  • Managing all event operations (preparing venue, invitations etc.), doing final checks on the day of the event (e.g. tables, technology), overseeing event happenings and acting quickly to resolve problems.
  • Filming, editing and uploading footage from various events.
  • Evaluating event’s success and helping the Board compile reports for the grant-giving institutions.
  • Supporting the Board in maintaining professional social media profiles (esp. Twitter, Facebook) of the organisation.
